2 Do not be conformed to this world,[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[b]
Romans 12:2
Being part of the current. One thing I'm actually good at, I'm not even supposed to be doing that. I looked up the word current and this is what Wikipedia says "A current, in a river or stream, is the flow of water influenced by gravity as the water moves downhill reduce its potential energy." Hhhmm, so if we follow the current we "move downhill" we then "reduce its potential energy". Seems like this is not just for an actual current, but for our life too. If we follow the current we 1) go downhill, we slip away from God, we then 2) reduce its potential energy, we reduce our potential in Christ, the potential of sharing the gospel, the potential of showing Christ.
For me, this is terribly hard. It is so easy for me to want to just go with the flow, fit in, form to the people around me. But in the verse we're not supposed to do that. The struggle is real y'all. It is so hard. It is a daily battle, and one we cannot do without prayer and spending time in the word daily. Most importantly if we fit in with the world how are we to make disciples? How are we to share Christ if we are fitting into the world when clearly the world is not allowing Christ to lead it. We need to with faith, be bold.
Luke 6:46 says "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?" Hard one to swallow? I would say so, we may go to church claim that we are a christians but do we then just turn around and throw all that out the window when it doesn't help you fit into the current? I can assure you most everyone does.
"He (the devil) shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant, but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action." Daniel 11:32
Stand firm, he will guide you.
